Finding Home: Discover What It Truly Means for You
Sep 11, 2024The rhythm of my life at the moment is a little different from what I’m used to… and you know what? I really like it!
I’ve been settling into our little Sanctuary by the Sea, and I’m LOVING IT! I’m loving it more than I ever imagined I would. It feels like we’ve lived here forever. This pic is from the 5-minute drive through the local horse stud, to the beach
Last week, I headed back to Canberra for some work and to visit IKEA for some much-needed storage solutions. It's the first time we've been back since moving into our new home. I was excited to catch up with clients and work my way through my shopping list, but as I got closer to Canberra, something shifted. My energy changed, and I felt a pressure in my body I hadn’t felt for the past few weeks. The most interesting part? I felt like a visitor. It didn’t feel like home anymore.
I had a great couple of days there (despite the -4 degree mornings—I definitely don’t miss those!), but when it was time to head ‘home,’ it felt so comfortable, the closer I got. It felt right. I could feel it through my entire body—‘this is home.’ And it wasn’t just that new, exciting feeling of moving into a new place. It was the deep, comforting feeling of returning to where I truly belong. I loved that feeling so much. It was a wonderful confirmation that living in our beautiful Sanctuary by the Sea is where I’m meant to be.
I’ve followed my hunches and inklings of this dream for many years, working in partnership with the Universe to bring it to life. This dream feels bigger than me—it’s more than just wishing for something and making it happen. It’s a part of my life’s trajectory.
So, I’d like to introduce something new in my blog: a little section for you to think about, ask yourself, and experiment with each week. This week’s theme is all about ‘Coming Home’…
1 Thing to Think About:
What does "home" truly mean to you?
- Is it a place, a feeling, a person?
- Reflect on what makes you feel most at home, and why that matters to you.
1 Thing to Ask Yourself:
Am I living in alignment with what makes me feel at home?
- Are there aspects of my life that feel out of place or disconnected from that sense of "home"?
1 Thing to Experiment With:
Try creating a small ritual or practice that helps you feel more connected to that sense of home.
- It could be as simple as lighting a candle, spending time in nature, or rearranging a space in your house to reflect who you are right now. See how it feels to intentionally create that "coming home" energy in your daily life.
While I write this blog, I still feel a bit unsettled. Even though I feel like I’m home, I’m not quite in the rhythm of things. I’m spending a lot of time soaking up the surroundings and nesting—setting up the home so it’s comfy and cozy. I’m really paying attention to what I need, and the slower pace seems to be doing the trick right now. I’m trusting and allowing things to unfold exactly as they need to.
Let’s see where things are at next week.
Until then, sunshine and great big hugs
